Sun and Sand
If I had a sunny ray
To hold tight in my hand
I think that I would let it free
So that it could warm the sand
If I had the ocean's blue
Imprinted on my jeans
I think that I would brush it off
For it looks better on the sea
If I had the golden sand
That tickled in my hair
I think I'd have to shake it loose
For its place is here, not there
And If I had a hermit crab
Who I would call my friend
Well, I must let him go as well
Leave him with the sun and the sand
To hold tight in my hand
I think that I would let it free
So that it could warm the sand
If I had the ocean's blue
Imprinted on my jeans
I think that I would brush it off
For it looks better on the sea
If I had the golden sand
That tickled in my hair
I think I'd have to shake it loose
For its place is here, not there
And If I had a hermit crab
Who I would call my friend
Well, I must let him go as well
Leave him with the sun and the sand
