To See Him

I just want to see him
Before I go to sleep
Through this window, through the fog
As my breath struggles to be deep
I want to see him walking
With his shoulders slightly slumping
With his head hung low and frowning
With that backpack nearly breaking
Down the sidewalk neverending
Keeping rhythm with his feet
I just want to see him
Before I go to sleep
Through this window, through his eyes
As my strength struggles to be deep
I want to see who meets him
When my vicious love has left him
And I would smile to see with him
That girl I hate because she gets him
Even though I once convinced him
His secrets were for me to keep
I just want to see him
Before I go to sleep
Through this window, throughout time
As mem'ry struggles to be deep
I'll watch him graduate in spring
See him present her with a ring
And watch his work change everything
He'll push his daughter on the swing
All the while wrinkling
From smiles that stretch from cheek to cheek
All I ask is just to see him
Before I go to sleep
