To See Him

His face was well know
But unseen by me
The he opened my eyes
And was all I could see

His smile was white
The brightness of the crescent moon
Well versed in fighting back the gloom
Where clouds encroach on waves of grey
And glowing halos start to fray
Where flickering stars had turned away
To leave deep night

His eyebrows were splayed
Like a breaking wave
Crashing on his furrowed brow
Smoothing to the edges
But challenging the brave

His ears were red
Like strawberries
Bared toward the brilliant sun
But leaving innocence's soft hue
For what new knowledge carries

His eyes were deep
A void which lay too long alone
And offered up the warmest home
If worthy you were somehow deemed
And learned what honest truly means
Pupil's abyss would fill your dreams
In restless sleep

His beard was curled
Like lost eddies
Swirled to pure delight of nature's will
Defying any gust
Who dared to call them petty

His arms were strong
Like a sycamore
Supporting all things seen and unseen
With strength unknown
Gained long before

His words were wise
Though misplaced in a mouth so young
Their certainty grew from his tongue
Each sentence jarred your mind with care
And coaxed out every thought you'd dare
To mix with life which ripened there
In sweet disguise

His lips were sweet
His eyes were wide
His hand was a fit
And his love is mine
