Rediculousness

I use stars and underlines
To coax out what my mind defines
As meaning from the chaos on the page
But trees grow no more perfectly
Than children act respectably
And frankly my confusion grows with age

If I took all the stars that shine
And organized them in straight lines
Would beating hearts be stilled beneath the moon
My fascination lies in what
My fellow strangers ponder, but
My understanding always comes too soon

We've worked hard to seize the day
But our hard work got in the way
With nothing but good times that recall
And looking back, I bet we'll find
The things we found ridiculous
Weren't quite so ridiculous at all

And this is just a guess
But maybe this ridiculousness
Makes the end seem worth it after all
