Pretend

A panda picked petunias
For a purple petal pie
For their preposterous preponderance
Made popcorn sales die

Rocks ran 'round the railroad
'Til they remembered nature's rules
And left their romp for restfulness
Their grins remain recluse

Everything ends eventually
Even emerald eyes
Everything escape evades
And everything must die

Trolls and tigers try to talk
But tend to telling tales
That tempt the two to take offense
Until their talk curtails

Everything ends eventually
Everything must die
And yet pretending seems to live
Collecting in earthshine

Nannies know of narwhals
And the nasal nib of nose
That nests upon it doughnuts
For natation down below

Dandelions dream deeply
Until dark dusk descends
But daffodils and daisies
May like daylight, it depends

Do not let panic fill you
When conundrums cloud the day
As long as you PRETEND, success
Is not to far away

(A challenge put to me by a college application. Probably the third strangest thing I've ever thrown together.)
