The sandwich shop worker
Asked, "What do you want?"
And his smile met my shock
That he'd dare be so blunt
To question me there
In my peace non-concrete
Of my greatest desires
Over sliced deli meat
How dare he suggest
That my purpose had changed
And then, smile fading
Look at me like I'm strange
The sandwich shop worker
Said, "Whenever you're ready,"
And I walked out, somehow
With peanut butter and jelly...
